When looking at the global and Malaysian health landscape, the data points to a clear crisis in metabolic and mental health.
According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS), Malaysia faces staggering rates of non-communicable diseases (NCDs): 54.4% of adults are overweight or obese, 33.3% have high cholesterol, and 29.2% suffer from hypertension. Concurrently, clinical depression rates among Malaysian adults have doubled, heavily impacting young adults. [1, 2, 3]
When choosing between a high-legumes diet and a high-dairy diet to combat these specific crises, a high-legumes diet (or a legume-forward plant-rich blend) is the heavily preferred option. [1]

  • Cardiovascular Health: Legumes score significantly higher due to their complete lack of cholesterol and rich supply of soluble fiber, which actively lowers LDL cholesterol [1]. Dairy has a moderate score because full-fat varieties contain saturated fats that require strict portion control to protect heart health.
  • Mental Health & Gut-Brain Axis: Legumes lead clearly here because their massive amounts of prebiotic fiber feed the gut bacteria needed to produce mood-regulating neurotransmitters like serotonin. Dairy offers moderate support primarily through fermented options like yogurt, but lacks the necessary fiber to sustain a diverse gut microbiome.
  • Weight & Obesity Management: Both score highly but work differently. Legumes provide high-volume satiety through a combination of fiber and protein, naturally preventing overeating. Dairy helps preserve lean muscle mass during weight loss due to its dense whey and casein proteins.
  • Blood Sugar Control: Legumes are the clear winner with an incredibly low glycemic index that prevents insulin spikes and stabilizes blood glucose. Dairy has a neutral to slightly positive impact, but cannot match the slow-release carbohydrate benefits of complex plant starches.

Home made Greek Yogurt vs Commercial Yogurt. Clearly Home made better, if you have time.

Cuaca panas bahang walaupun hujan. Buat tofu fa dengan 2 bahan saja.

While no probiotic, ToFuFa has good source of Prebiotic. The usual way we flavour it, is by Gula Melaka or whatever syrup, otherwise it is so bland that some people do not like it (an understatement for some).  Just like plain yogurt can be enhanced by fresh fruit, Plain Tofufa can be done the same way also. I haven't tried it, though.

ANTIBIOTIC

November 21, 2025   Antibiotic was a great discovery about 100 years ago. It saved many lives over the past century, likely someone closed to you have been protected by it, or even you, and me.     However, situation becomes more complex when it is overused.  Here is why: Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) happens when germs—like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites—stop responding to the medicines used to kill them. When this happens, antibiotics and other treatments no longer work well. This makes infections harder or sometimes impossible to treat, which can lead to more people getting sick, more severe illness, and more deaths. World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) is a worldwide event held every year from 18 to 24 November . Its goal is to help people understand what AMR is and why it is a serious problem, and to encourage countries and communities to take action. It is one of the official health campaigns of the World Health Organization (WHO). The th...
