I agree that Health is not just absence of disease. But, if we define health as what WHO did in 1948, I have fallen into incomplete stage of wellbeing in some part of physical, in my today measure - sarcopenia.
I would like to suggest we take health at different stages of life as living a full and abundant life, free as much as possible from the burden of disease—it’s about living more. . It is a dynamic resource for everyday life, encompassing emotional resilience, nutritional balance, and meaningful social connections to help individuals adapt and thrive.
There are many influences on our health: behavioural, environmental, socioeconomic, genetic and social.
Let me try to focus on these five pillars to manage aging and prevent chronic disease as I age:
- Metabolic Health: Managing blood sugar and heart health. (my forte)
- Strength & Mobility: Preserving muscle mass and joint function.(my Achilles - the strength and muscle mass)
- Nutritional Density: Prioritizing protein and anti-inflammatory foods. (my forte, but I do have weak spots)
- Cognitive Care: Strategies for memory and brain longevity. (I am working on revitalizing my primary school skill of memorizing
- Restorative Sleep: Optimizing hormonal balance and recovery (um, mine, not great, but not bad)
If you try to gauge these areas, and make steps to improve them, your health should be able to become better.
